THE last 12 months has seen a dramatic way in which we interact within our community.
Closed doors, mandatory social distancing, masks and sanitizer etc have effectively cut us off from our usual social interaction and engagement. We could never have predicted how far reaching these changes to our lifestyle would be.
Behind the scenes the Salvos have continued their work as the demand for support and assistance grew and became more immediate.
Lost incomes, financial crisis and homelessness coupled with the increased number of those with depression and anxiety as a result of the circumstances they found themselves in meant that the work undertaken by the Salvation Army officers increased tenfold.
The Red Shield Appeal is an annual fundraising event that enables the community to financially assist the Salvos in their work.
Each year the appeal is kicked off in Western Sydney with a business launch where the key business people of Western Sydney come together to network and support the cause.
While this was not possible last year due to COVID restrictions, this year the business launch will once again take place at a lunch at PARKROYAL Parramatta on April 30.
Special guest speaker Rosemary Kariuki, named Australia’s Local Hero in the 2021 Australia Day Awards, will join MC Stephanie Brantz, renowned Australian sports presenter and Director of Football NSW, to provide an entertaining event with plenty of networking opportunities.
While attendance is free of charge, the goal on the day is to raise $150,000 in donations from those in attendance.
