Council wants residents to look into CBD development

EXPRESSIONS of interest are sought from residents eligible to be representatives in the Parramatta City Council’s Local Planning Panel.

Each role is part-time to be served for up to three years and receives remuneration for attending once a month meeting.

The LPP panel consists of a chair, three independent experts and community representatives who will determine development applications and make recommendations on proposals submitted to council.

Council said the LPP’s are in place to ensure the assessment and determination of DA’s are of high value, not corruptible, sensitive or of strategic importance, transparent and accountable.

Excluded from the selection are mayors, councillors, property developers and real estate agents.

Council said c candidates should have sufficient knowledge of the local community, understand local concerns and be able to represent the interests of the community.

As LPP representatives, they are expected to understand the planning process and assessment issues, but are not expected to be expert, council said.

All applicants must commit to adhere to the council’s code of conduct and operational procedures.

Interested residents are urged to contact Sarah Ahmed on (02) 9806 5711.

Applications are online only, closing on November 15. Visit https://www.cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au/council/your-council/careers
